How This Calculator Works
This calculator is mindful of the sleep needs of older adults:
- The 30-Minute Power Nap: This brief nap can increase alertness and improve cognitive function without leaving you groggy or making it harder to fall asleep at night.
- The 90-Minute Full Cycle: This can be beneficial, but it's best taken earlier in the afternoon to avoid disrupting your regular bedtime.
- Time to Fall Asleep: We add 15 minutes to the calculation to account for the time it typically takes to fall asleep. This ensures your nap provides the full recommended duration of actual sleep.
Disclaimer: For older adults, frequent or very long naps may be linked to underlying health issues. Please consult with a healthcare provider if you have excessive daytime sleepiness.
